All the months of planning have culminated in a wedding day that is perfect from every angle, not least the bride’s. To reach this point, however, has taken a lot of co-ordination of services, planning expertise, energy and money. Certainly, after all this effort the last thing the bride would want is to have less than perfect wedding make-up on her special day.

First and foremost, perfect wedding make-up is more likely to be achievable is the bride’s skin in unblemished prior to make-up being applied. This does not begin with the application of a suitable foundation on the morning of the wedding but at least a couple of weeks before that special day. This will give time for any blemishes such as spots or rashes to have a chance to heal. It will also give the bride a chance to practice her perfect wedding make-up with a trail run and to adapt her cosmetics accordingly.

When it comes to make-up application there is certainly no substitute for a natural healthy glow. To achieve this, a girl needs plenty of sleep, sufficient nutrients from a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water to keep her skin hydrated. This natural base will provide an impeccable blank canvas on which to apply the perfect wedding make-up. A deep cleanse facial carried out two weeks before the wedding day will ensure skin pores are not clogged and prevent the development of unsightly blackheads occurring to mar the perfect wedding make-up.

 Two Weeks’ Before

Any skin treatments such as a deep skin cleanse needs to allow the bride’s skin time to recover as occasionally such facial treatments might leave irritation or inflammation to the skin. Two weeks before the big day should allow sufficient time for any irritations to subside in time to apply the perfect wedding make-up on the day. Similarly, eyebrows should be shaped two weeks before, just needing to be touched up at the last minute.

 Wedding Make-Up 

The best kind of make-up is the kind that is completely undetectable. In other words, go for the natural look to avoid garish make-up clashing with the embellishments of your dress. It takes a long time to apply make-up that enhances your face but is discretely applied. Make-up is intended to bring out the best of your features and play down those features you might not want somebody to focus on. Aim for a good moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and then arrange to have your foundation applied with a gentle hand – not put on with a shovel!

Invariably, a powder-based foundation is far better than a crème-based one as the cream tends to get caught in any small lines you might have then dry, making those lines stand out. Powder-based foundation will hide any lines and imperfections and maintain a smooth finish throughout the day.

Less is More

When it comes to bridal wedding make-up, less is most definitely more – the wedding make-up flawlessly applied to achieve an excellent portrayal of the bride and groom when, in years to come, the family decide to look back through the wedding album. However, to achieve this natural, unblemished look doesn’t happen by chance. The perfect wedding make-up needs to be planned for in much the same way as all the other contributions to the perfect wedding day.
